About Mine

Green Building Company rushed to establish a mine to extract pozzolana / zeolite / tuff, where all zeolite sites in Jordan were surveyed, until the choice fell on the site of Makawir in Madaba Governorate, because of this site's unique characteristics from other types of pozzolana and zeolite, whether in terms of density, salinity, hardness, or the percentage of hydrated aluminum silicates, alkaline earth, high porosity, and other minerals that form the physical and chemical properties of zeolite. The mining license was obtained at the end of 2012. Actual work began in 2014, under the name of (Maaden for Natural Raw Materials) Company. The company also equipped a No. 7 crusher to grind and screen all granular gradations according to the different needs of all uses and to meet the factory's increasing needs for pozzolana and stability of properties.

-What is volcanic pozzolana tuff?
Volcanic tuff is an extract and a natural product that was formed as a result of violent volcanic eruptions that occurred thousands of years ago, where burning and molten rocks and soil flew, mixed with each other to form liquid lava mixed with gases, coagulated completely or partially during their flight and then descended to the ground and around the crater of the volcano, which resulted from their accumulation and rapid cooling after periods of time, what is known as tuff / pozzolana / zeolite. Volcanic tuff is an agricultural, industrial, and constructional hydroponic medium consisting of coagulated volcanic foam, interspersed with many air spaces, some of which are closed and some of which are open and connected to the outside air, regardless of the size of the particles that enable the medium to be dealt with. It is a medium that combines strength and stability in addition to light weight due to the closed and connected air bubbles it contains.

The low density and the large void ratio, its ability to absorb and adsorb gases and liquids, atomic adsorption and ion exchange, the stability of its crystal structure, the homogeneous and regular distribution of voids and the high surface area make it an ideal model for many uses.

-Properties of volcanic tuff:
There are many types of tuff that differ from each other in terms of color, shape and properties. Many laboratory analyses and experiments had to be conducted on any tuff before it was used for various purposes. There is black tuff, red tuff, brown tuff and yellow tuff. There is a volumetric and lightness gradient that governs the ratio between the extent to which tuff absorbs air and water in certain proportions that determine the extent to which tuff can deal with the medium.

-The general specifications of tuff are as follows:
• It is a stable natural material that maintains its structure and composition for many years that may reach 20 years without change, depending on the type of tuff used.
• It is a material that does not decompose or decompose and does not contain any organic matter and is certainly free of any element if it is clean and carefully selected using scientific methods.
• It is a material that can be crushed, ground, sieved and graded according to the requirements of specialized agriculture, each according to its need in terms of size, color and performance.
• It is a light material with a volumetric weight ranging between 650-1050 kg/m3 depending on the size of the unit that makes up the tofu medium required by different types of agricultural or industrial crops (fine, medium, coarse).
