The Greater Amman Municipality has raised building permit fees in the capital for various planning categories by 25%. An informed source revealed that the Municipality Council will review the expected increase decision today, so that it will be included in the new amendments to the new building system, which the Council is supposed to approve in its session, and then it will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval before it is implemented. The source added that the new amendments increased the fine for violations by a percentage ranging between 25% and 40% of the current rate, in an effort to reduce them. The head of the Municipality Committee, Dr. Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, had previously said that the “new system” is modern and meets the development taking place in the city of Amman.
